This season is winding down too fast and it seems like some of my good luck has been running out lately.
I have managed to only pick up 1 win in the past few weeks and have had some horrible luck on some of
the bigger shows. With my point averages shooting up I have been forced to start in the 5th and 6th rows
every night at Marshalltown and Boone, but have been able to pull out some decent finishes anyway.
At Knoxville, we were rained out the first time and went back to re run the race a couple weeks later, and
pulled a horrible number for the draw. I started in the back of the heat and had a carburetor issue, which
kept the throttle ¾ down the whole race and I was only able to get to 3rd place. That started me on the
pole for the B, which I won, and started the Feature in the 10th row. The track was super slick and my car
was fast but a pile up on a restart toward the beginning of the race, sandwiched me into the wall and I did
not finish.
The next big show was the “Night of 1000 stars” at Britt. I drew a good number and was leading my heat
race by a long ways when I broke a right front hub after taking the white flag and ended up in the
cornfield on the backstretch with a DNF. I started 19th in the B and got to 9th after taking another trip off
track and had to catch up again, and was 1 spot out of transferring to the main.
We have blown a couple motors and had some other bad luck, but hopefully we have put that behind us
and can keep on our winning ways for the rest of the season. Also, we have new Tee shirts and a limited
quantity of long sleeve tee shirts and hoodies available too. You can purchase either at our trailer
during races or online.
