Latest News From Adam:

Like the rest of the season the last month of racing has been one of ups & downs.

My first trip back to Webster City after my big crash proved to be a little uncomfortable but all in all
not bad. The track in the feature was very fast on the bottom and there was not much to get a hold of
on the top. I started 5th row and got shuffled back on the start, after getting settled down I tried
running my car on the bottom in the moisture but it was just way too tight so I headed upstairs and
ran the top of the speedway for the majority of the race. This proved to be a smart move as nobody
else was running up there and I was able to make my way up to 7th spot before the track really went
away up there and I just maintained for the last couple of laps and that is where I finished. Not good
but certainly better than my last trip up there.

The next night we headed back to Marshalltown where I fought a miss in my motor and ended up
burning a head gasket in the motor so I didn’t finish any races I was in.

Then we changed motors and headed to Webster City on Saturday night. Guess what? After changing
ignitions and numerous other things we still had a miss in the motor and we ended up burning
another head gasket and ended our night.

Next we were off to Marshalltown  and once again, we had an extremely fast car but on the first lap of
the feature another car pushed terribly contacting me in the left door and cutting my ignition wires
and ending my night.

After getting the car back together we headed to Webster City the next night. This week I missed hot
laps so I started in the back of the heat. I made the invert but drew terrible for the feature. This week
I was able to work my way up to 4th and then the track leveled off and I wasn’t able to make any more
passes so that is where I finished.

I thought my bad luck at Marshalltown was never going to end. After not making it through one lap
the week before, this week a car spun right in front of me going into turn one in the heat. I got
hooked together and didn’t finish my heat, which lined me up on the 9th row for the feature. I kept a
smooth line around the top and worked my way through traffic with only one yellow to bunch things
up at the beginning. By the end of the feature I was about half a car from 4th place at the checkered
flag, finishing in 5th.

Now that we had things rolling, we went back to Webster City and this time I drew bad again and
started in the 5th row for the feature. I had a really good car and got up to 2nd spot and the leader
was a full half lap ahead of me at that point. With the race going without a yellow I had no chance of
catching the leader and settled for 2nd.

On a whim I decided to go to the Iowa State fair special race on that Monday. With a tough field of
cars on hand I once again drew poorly and started in the 4th row of my heat, but I was able to drive
right to the front on the slick surface and win easily. Then I drew 5th row for the feature with all the
tough cars in front of me. I got a bad start and fell back a little but I was able to find a line around the
top of the speedway that nobody else found and I quickly worked my way to the top 5. With several
yellows coming at the wrong times I was still able to pass cars on a consistent basis and by lap 16 I
was chasing down a good friend of mine Pat Graham, a lap later I had passed him and set my sights
on the leader, late model star Chris Speiker. Knowing that he would be tough to pass being as
talented as he is I stayed focused, and with 2 laps to go I made my move to the high side of him. He
slid up the track in front of me and I was able to turn my car under him and pass him going down the
back stretch, he made an attack back at me, and coming down to take the white flag we were door to
door, and like the last lap I made the same crossover move and this time made it stick a lot better and
was able to power ahead and take the win! It was very exciting to beat a competitor like Chris and
was definitely the highlight of my season so far.

Hopefully I can keep this streak of top 5’s going in the coming weeks as we set our sights on the 24th
annual IMCA Supernationals Crown next month.

Thanks for checking up on me and be sure to get your Adam Larson Racing Tee shirt before they sell
